STEFANO RAGAZZO
alpinist
Trained on the most difficult walls of the Dolomites, Stefano has taken his technical and exploratory mountaineering from Mont Blanc to the Karakoram, passing through Patagonia and the Himalayas. For him, mountaineering is not just about performance, but a way to read the mountain with fresh eyes, seeking pure lines, essential choices, and challenges that hold meaning.
The mountains
and the mind
The mind, even before the body, has guided Stefano Ragazzo to some of the hardest and most remote mountains on the planet. The determination built on every wall, the resilience honed over time, and the ability to stay clear-headed under pressure have allowed him to tackle technical and isolated climbs, from Mont Blanc to Patagonia, all the way to the Himalayas and the Karakoram. At the heart of it all is his vision: the strength to imagine an adventure where none exists yet, and to work with method and dedication to turn it into reality.
the mountains
as a
teacher
Stefano’s journey is not only made of ascents but also of study, practice, and continuous learning. Becoming an alpine guide meant honing technical skills, decision-making abilities, and a deep sense of responsibility towards others. Every experience on the wall, every course, every bivouac has helped build a solid, essential, and mindful approach: a way of living and transmitting the mountain that leaves no room for improvisation.
FROM THE DOLOMITES TO KARAKORUM
Stefano Ragazzo has built his mountaineering path by tackling some of the world’s most challenging and iconic routes. From his early experiences on the Dolomitic walls, he has extended his range of action internationally. Among his most notable achievements:
> Eternal Flame on the Nameless Tower (6251 m) in the Karakoram: first solo ascent in rope solo with difficulties up to 7c+, completed in nine days in July 2024.
> The Nose on El Capitan, Yosemite: solo ascent in rope solo.
> Kalypso on the Sato Pyramide (6100 m) in Nepal: opening of a new route and first ascent of an untouched summit.
> Gold Rush on Cemetery Spire in the Kichatna Mountains, Alaska: opening of a new route with difficulties up to 5.12a and A1+.
> Supercanaleta on Fitz Roy and other minor peaks in Patagonia.
Approach & VISION
In addition to his mountaineering achievements, Stefano is known for his ability to communicate and share his vision of alpinism. Through conferences, documentaries, and writings, he conveys values such as determination, respect for nature, and the power of imagination in achieving ambitious goals. His storytelling inspires not only mountaineers but anyone who believes in the power of dreams realized through dedication and passion.
Faithful to
an ideal
For Stefano, every mountain climbed is a way to tell something that goes beyond performance: it’s vision, discipline, and a form of thinking in action. A thought that rejects shortcuts, simplifications, and lies, because for him, mountaineering only makes sense if it’s true, lived fully. Whether it’s opening new routes in the Himalayas or speaking in front of an audience, the approach doesn’t change: attention, consistency, and the ambition to leave a lasting mark.
Because doing things with truth, without shortcuts, remains one of the rarest and most powerful forms of courage.
